SEO FOR THE AI ERA

The goal of this work is ultimately about meaningful connection. Connecting your business with the person who is looking for exactly what they offer, even when that search is happening through an AI system. For that to happen, the model needs to understand what makes your work distinct, who it is for, and why someone might choose you. That can be surprisingly deep and nuanced work.

MY BACKGROUND

I started designing websites in 1997, when the web was still new. I’ve literally watched the internet grow up. Along the way, I’ve worked at large advertising agencies like McCann, tech startups, publishers, small businesses, and luxury brands. I love working with smart, creative people, and I’ve been very fortunate to have worked for talented Creative Directors who became design mentors. I've run my own design firm, Van Gogh Design over the last 15 years and we delivered books, websites, print materials, and apps. I have been hired to provide effective and foundational SEO for over a decade. It's all changing now, and I'm here for it! For the last year, I have been intensely focussed on AI visibility and getting excellent results for my clients.

Search is becoming much more conversational because people are asking AI systems very specific, sometimes surprisingly personal questions about what they need. My job is to make sure search engines and AI systems can clearly understand your way of working, your experience, and your seasoned point of view. The goal isn’t to write for AI.
